2009 WISCONSIN STATE FAIR

GOVERNOR’S BLUE RIBBON LIVESTOCK AUCTION

 

 

WEST ALLIS, WI, August 12, 2009 Officials of the Wisconsin State Fair are pleased to announce that the 41st Annual Governor’s Blue Ribbon Livestock Auction (GBRLA) at the 2009 Wisconsin State Fair was not only entertaining but very successful.

 

The auction began promptly at 6:30pm in the Coliseum at the Fair Park and was emceed by Auctioneer Bob Johnson of Milton, Wisconsin. Bidding commenced with the Grand Champion Steer exhibited by Brock May of Iowa County. May, age 15, broke into a broad smile when his steer was selected as Grand Champion for the third year in a row. In the end, the Grand Champion Steer, a crossbred weighing 1290 pounds, sold for $15,000 with the winning bid from Kenosha Beef International. The steer was donated to the Kenosha Chapter of the Salvation Army.

 

In total, 27 Junior Market Steers, Barrows and Lambs were auctioned off raising

a grand total of $110,750.
